Great European Travel Destinations

All over the world, people everywhere celebrate their Irish heritage on March 17th. Regardless of your heritage, you can’t deny that spring is in full swing. The days are now officially longer, and while it takes a few days to get used to, it marks the arrival of spring. It doesn’t hurt that the weather is acting accordingly either!

Travel during the spring season is something that everyone should try. Throughout Europe, there are many locations that offer warm sunny climates this time of year. On top of that, spring is also considered an “off” season by many people. I never really understood that. In my opinion, there are some locations that are actually better in the spring. For those of you who like spring time travel, here’s a list of the top five European spring travel destinations.

1. Crete, Greece – This Greek island is surrounded by the Mediterranean waters, and is one location that will keep you hot all year round with its vibrant nightlife and culture.

2. Ibiza, Spain – This well known Spanish island is much more than crazy youngsters looking for a party. The island is actually quite beautiful, and will keep you entertained with things like scuba diving, fishing, and other outdoor adventures.

3. Naples, Italy – The entire Italian coast line could be a great spring destination. The cool ocean breezes are waiting to chill you out after a day exploring in the national parks located south of the city.

4. Palermo, Italy – Explore more of Sicily with a rental car in Palermo. The entire island is filled with small coastal villages that will keep you full on olives and local cheese. Sounds like fun!

5. Faro, Portugal – This Portuguese city located near the Spanish border is a very popular destination for many Europeans. You should check it out to see what you are missing before it’s too busy. The good news is, April and May are full of all kinds of great deals for travelers, and the weather is perfect!

World Travel Destinations

World travel is always an adventure. But today, with all of the “stuff” that goes on in the world and the hateful sentiment toward Americans and America that is felt in many countries around the world, the question of which countries are actually the safest to travel to comes to mind right away when planning to travel abroad.
We, of course, have a few suggestions. The following locations are probably the safest travel destinations, but that doesn’t mean that bad things CAN’T happen. It only means that bad things are far less likely to happen.
Finland is probably the safest travel destination in all of northern Europe. Helsenki, the capital of Finland, is named “the world’s friendliest city” year after year. It deserves the title. You’ll find prices are high and the current exchange rate doesn’t help matters any. Travel to Finland might cost more, but it’s definitely safe!
Japan has the lowest crime rate of any industrialized nation in the world – unless crimes against whales is included in the count. You’ve probably heard your grandparents talk about how it was in America back in the 1950s; people ride bicycles and talk to strangers without fearing for their lives. Japan today is similar to that.
In the South Pacific, New Zealand is a breathtakingly beautiful country where crime is almost nonexistent. Sheep stealing is the number one crime. New Zealand is safe.
Sweden has got to be the safest of all of the Scandinavian countries and also one of the most beautiful countries in the world. Sweden might steal your
heart, but that’s all that will be stolen. Sweden is very safe!
Monaco is where you can lose a lot of money at the casinos in Monte Carlo, but only if you choose to. The crime rate is so low it is infinitesimal.

Visit Havana Travel Destination

tr2Choosing a vacation travel destination can be a slightly difficult task for many people. Sure, you could go to the same old boring places that everybody else goes to like Disney World or the Grand Canyon or Branson Missouri’s Silver Dollar City… or you can branch out to slightly more exotic but still boring places like Paris or London or even Hong Kong; and while these are slightly better choices, they’re still the same old boring things that just about everybody does.

Why not choose a vacation that is slightly more exotic and definitely more exciting?

Might I suggest Havana Cuba?

Havana has many things going for it and not the least of all is the fact that it’s so very close to the United States, geographically speaking. This means that you won’t spend all of your time sitting in an airplane when you could be enjoying a jewel of the Caribbean.

Yes, it’s true that Havana is still a city in a communist country, one of the last communist countries left on the planet to be precise; but you should be perfectly safe nonetheless.

This isn’t your normal vacation with your normal tourist destinations. You can expect to explore beautiful Spanish colonial architecture as well as breathtakingly stunning beaches instead of the same cookie cutter tourist shops found elsewhere.

Havana is the capital of Cuba but it doesn’t have the typical consumer trappings that you might expect in a regular capital city.

Cuba is the largest island in the Caribbean with 750 miles of mountain ranges (including the Sierra Maestra, the Cordilla de los Organos, and the Sierra del Escambray) and miles of vast beautiful plains. It has over 200 exotic looking bays and nearly 300 beautiful beaches.

The worst time of year to go is between May and November because this is the rainy season when you can get caught in terrible weather including, potentially, hurricanes. Any other time of the year you can expect a wonderful vacation.

What exactly is there to do in Havana? It’s a good question. The simple answer is you can find yourself a beach that you like and just relax for a week or two. If you want a little more activity then you can always explore the rich culture, the music, food, and even the art of the area. And there’s always the mountains too!

Fidel Castro has been sick for a long time now and his brother Raul runs the government these days. Raul is seen as more open to the Western world and Cuba as a whole is slowing beginning to open up. Now’s the time to take advantage of this great travel destination opportunity!

Most people don’t think of Cuba as a tourist destination but if you don’t want to be like everybody else then I suggest you take a serious look at everything Cuba has to offer. You’ll be more than happy you did.

Travel Destinations For Family Fun

Ten long months of waiting and anticipating. At long last, it has arrived: Summer! Most families dream of the typical Disney vacation and spend years saving to make it there. I am firm believer that every family should have at least one such vacation. But, if long lines in extreme heat are not appealing to you, perhaps a traditional Disney vacation will not do. Explore these alternative travel destinations for summer family fun. Will one of these be the ticket to your best summer vacation yet?

  1. Disney Cruise Definitely NOT your typical Disney vacation, the Disney cruise lines offer several packages which can include theme park visits. The cool thing about this alternative is that you still get all the “magic” of a Disney vacation, but without all the lines and all the waiting, and all the bumping into people,… You get the idea. Parents will LOVE the fact that the ship affords plenty of freedom for kids to play, enjoy the characters, and do their own thing while mom and dad enjoy some alone time. Kids will enjoy feeling free to explore and walk around the ship, without their parents looming over their shoulders all the time! There are tons of fun, interactive, innovative activities for all ages and interests. Plus, the visit to Castaway Cay (Disney’s private 1000 acres island in the Bahamas) is a real breathtaking experience!
  2. Puerto Rico OK, so we are still in the whole traditional summer, beach and sun mode. But, Puerto Rico has many hidden treasures typical visitors don’t know about and rarely get to see. If you are the adventurous, outdoorsy type, then Puerto Rico might just be the perfect destination for you. First, Puerto Rico is home to the only real rain forest in US territory. Known as “El Yunque,” this incredible landmark is filled with unusual flora and fauna, beautiful views, breathtaking water falls, and can provide a full day of pure enjoyment. Make sure to register with the forest rangers for full access to hiking trails and other amenities! Then, there the Arecibo Observatory. Believe it or not, this facility houses the biggest radio telescope in the world. Definitely worth the 2-hour trip from San Juan. If that is not enough to entice you, then add to the list, eco-tourism, night kayaking trips in a bio-luminescent bay, camping at the beach, zip-lining, and a tour of dozens of incredibly beautiful lighthouses, and you might just have found your summer travel destination!
  3. Ecuador Now, if you are truly ready to get away from your typical summer vacation, consider visiting Ecuador. This beautiful, South American country offers culture, beauty, and natural surroundings made even better by the warm and welcoming spirit of its people. Ecuador has three distinct climatic zones: the coast, the Andes mountain range, and the Amazon. So, there is definitely no need to suffer the heat while visiting. The country is large enough to offer a wide range of possibilities for the traveler. From shopping, to outdoor adventures, to exploring nature in the Galapagos Islands, Ecuador has something for everybody. Of course, make sure to get your picture taken right at the center of the world, with one foot on the northern hemisphere, and one on the southern hemisphere!
